Kirk Acevedo as José Ramse

Kirk Acevedo is best known for his performance as Miguel Alvarez in the critically acclaimed HBO drama “Oz.” Not only was “Oz” hailed by critics as one of the best shows on television, but Acevedo himself received a Cable Ace Award nomination for Best Actor in a Drama Series, and back-to-back Alma Award nominations three years in a row.

Since finishing work on the last season of 12 Monkeys, Acevedo has joined Arrow in 2017, portraying Richard Dragon/Ricardo Diaz.

In Dick Wolf’s series “Law & Order: Trial by Jury,” Acevedo played a young detective who was wounded in the line of duty and now reassigned to the District Attorney’s Investigative Squad. In addition, Acevedo recently starred opposite Colin Farrell in Terence Malick’s “The New World.” Earlier this year, he starred in the independent feature “5 Up 2 Down,” a dark, gritty character driven drama about the drug scene in New York City. Acevedo was also seen in the Oscar-nominated Terrence Malick film “The Thin Red Line.” His role as Private Tella earned him an Alma Award for Best Supporting Actor in a film. In addition, Acevedo was in Antoine Fuqua’s action-drama “Bait” opposite Jamie Foxx and David Morse. After completion of “Bait,” he went directly into production on Bob Giraldi’s “Dinner Rush,” an independent film opposite Danny Aiello, Sandra Bernhard and Vivan Woo.

Acevedo also starred in the HBO mini-series “Band of Brothers,” the war epic that followed the lives of a select group of WWII soldiers, produced by Steven Speilberg and Tom Hanks.

Acevedo’s other film roles include “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes,” Ben Younger’s “Boiler Room,” the independent films “In the Weeds,” “The Visit,” “Arresting Gena,” and “Kirk and Kerry,” a short which won the Jury Prize at the 1997 Slamdance Film Festival.
